DonorAtlas EveryAction Integration

EveryAction Quick Start Guide

Connect your EveryAction committee to DonorAtlas and sync your first contact.

Last updated: October 2026

Before you begin

  • You're an administrator of your EveryAction committee, with access to the Administrative Menu and API Integrations.
  • Your committee uses My Campaign, the CRM side of EveryAction. DonorAtlas writes to My Campaign contacts only.
  • You're an Admin or Configure Only user on your DonorAtlas team.
  • Your team has import credits. A bulk sync spends one per newly matched contact.

About 20 minutes, plus your API key approval.

Part 1

In EveryAction

An EveryAction administrator does these three steps.

1

Create the DonorAtlas custom fields

EveryAction doesn't let DonorAtlas create fields, so you create one custom contact field for each DonorAtlas value you want written. You'll connect them to DonorAtlas in step 5.

  1. Open Administrative MenuCustom Contact Fields and click Add New Custom Field Group.
  2. Name the group DonorAtlas and give it the Contacts group type.
  3. Inside the group, add one field for each value below that you want, with the type shown. A Money value can also go in a Number field.

Name each field after its DonorAtlas value

Your team will recognize them in EveryAction, and the type is what matters to DonorAtlas: the Configure page only offers a field whose type can hold the value.

A good first set

Start with these five. You can add more fields at any time.

  • Net Worth Range (Min)The low end of the estimated net worth rangeMoney
  • Net Worth Range (Max)The high end of the estimated net worth rangeMoney

No fields needed for these

Employment, education, board seats, foundations, giving history and websites go into a DonorAtlas note on the contact. If you tick Write verified contact information onto EveryAction records in step 5, the verified email and phone go into the person's own email and phone lists.
2

Get an API key

  1. Open API IntegrationsRequest an API Key. Choose DonorAtlas as the integration, pick an approving administrator, and submit.
  2. The approver opens API IntegrationsView Support RequestApprove API Key Request and approves it, optionally with an expiry date.
  3. Go back to API IntegrationsGenerate API Key and copy the key.

EveryAction shows the key only once

Copy all of it, including the |1 at the end. That suffix points the key at your My Campaign database, and DonorAtlas needs it.
3

Share saved lists with the API user

Optional

Only needed if you plan to bulk sync a saved list. A saved list belongs to whoever saved it, so share the list, or its folder, with the API user the key belongs to.

Lists that aren't shared with the API user don't appear in DonorAtlas.
Part 2

In DonorAtlas

A DonorAtlas Admin or Configure Only user does steps 4 and 5.

4

Connect your team

  1. Sign in to DonorAtlas and open Integrations.
  2. Click Connect EveryAction, paste the key, including |1, and click Connect EveryAction.

DonorAtlas checks the key against your committee and takes you to the Configure page. Entering the key also connects you personally.

5

Choose what syncs

  1. Click Fill in matches by name. Every value whose field you named after it in step 1 is ticked and pointed at that field.
  2. Check Single values. Tick anything the button missed: DonorAtlas picks one of your fields that can hold it, and you can change the choice beside it. Leave the rest unticked.
  3. Under Repeating data (the DonorAtlas note), keep Write a DonorAtlas note ticked and choose what goes in it.
  4. Click Save configuration. You should see “Saved. DonorAtlas will write these fields from now on.”

Optional, under “What else a sync does”

Fill in employer, occupation and job title
Fills EveryAction's own employment fields when they're empty, and leaves one your team changed alone.
Let DonorAtlas overwrite values already in these fields
Lets a sync write over values your team changed, in every field DonorAtlas writes. Leave it off unless the fields are DonorAtlas's alone.
Add social profiles to the person
Adds LinkedIn, Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram and YouTube profiles as external IDs. EveryAction can't remove these later.
Stamp the DonorAtlas ID on the person
Needs an external ID type named DonorAtlas in your committee first, which EveryAction support creates on request. The page tells you whether you have one, and links to the steps.
6

Sync your first contact

  1. Open any donor's profile in DonorAtlas and click the EveryAction Sync button.
  2. In the picker, click Match automatically, or find the contact yourself by VAN ID, EveryAction link or contact details and click Link selected.

What “Match automatically” does

  • A sure match: links that contact and writes your fields.
  • No match: creates a contact and writes your fields.
  • Only the name matches: links the contact if the name is uncommon and no other contact has it. Otherwise it creates a new contact, and the job names the look-alike so you can merge them if they're the same person.

The button reads Syncing… while it works and View when it's done. View opens the contact in EveryAction.

7

Check the result in EveryAction

Open the contact in EveryAction. You should see:

  • Your DonorAtlas custom fields filled in.
  • A DonorAtlas note in the Notes section, opening with the profile link, then employment, education and the rest.
8

Invite your team

Everyone else connects themselves in one click: they open Integrations in DonorAtlas and click Connect your account on the EveryAction card. There's no EveryAction sign-in.

IntegrationsUsers & connections shows who's connected, lets you set what each person can do (Sync, Unsync, Bulk), and has instructions you can paste to them.
Next

Bulk sync a saved list

Open IntegrationsEveryActionBulk sync and click Sync on a list. DonorAtlas has EveryAction export the list, then matches and writes every member that isn't synced yet. Progress shows on the row and in the jobs panel.

Each newly matched contact uses one import credit. Re-syncs, unsyncs and the nightly refresh are free. The User Manual covers everything else.
